Memorabilia II

Our collection of moose, elk, deer, wapiti, wildebeast and dik-dik heads, antlers and horns is one of the most complete of any hotel west of the Mississippi.
This large bronze sculpture portrays Will James, the famous author of “Smokey” who was convicted of cattle rustling in White Pine County before going on to fame and fortune.
These amusing characters were carved by a blind Wyoming ventriloquist for the amusement of his grandchildren. He put his little carved cowboys through scenes of high hilarity, great pathos and sly social comment for the wide-eyed children. Since his death the tiny figures have maintained their silence, first at Knott’s Berry Farm and now here as a part of our display.
